Greetings all,
Today is Wednesday September 24th, and it is our third early release Wednesday. The students have adjusted well to the alternate schedule and know that they have to "walk with purpose" to get to their classes on time due to a shorter passing period.
Speaking of timeliness, the math students had a story problem this week involving making it to class on time. The students actually timed the problem out and started in the parking lot to see if they could make it to class before the bell rings... while doing this they learned about the importance of being on time and how long it takes to get to class from the parking lot.
The kids in Employability/Affective Skills are doing well in the coffee shop, they are getting their roles down and are learning the in's and out's of running a business. For example, if there is a problem with a customer's coffee, we are learning not to not take the complaint personally and that we just need to fix the problem. We still have a lot of things to learn about customer service, but we sure are learning!
