Our field trip day is an all-year planning project. We always look forward to skipping school and going in our community. Today was one of my favorite days as a teacher; art, art, and movies! And then sharing my favorite things with some of my favorite people, priceless. On days like these, I can't really describe how much fun we all have. So I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
Totally fun. It was a beautiful day. Our field trip day is an all-year planning project. We always look forward to skipping school and going in our community. So we had another snow day. The kids have been very good, despite all the schedule changes. ME, on the other hand, have not! I'm ready for spring!
This week we went to the Highmark Credit Union and Dawn gave us a tour. It was really fun to see how the bank works and where the money goes. She gave us all detective mustaches and magnifying glasses, so our pictures are pretty funny. The pics are below. :) Tomorrow, we are taking about 30 students to the Dahl Fine Arts, Suzie Cappa Art Center, and the Elks Theatre. We are sooo excited to have a fun day out in the community! We'll make sure to post some pics sometime tomorrow afternoon or Monday. Don't forget to subscribe to our blog to receive updates, using the little orange button on the side of this page. We're behind schedule! With the snowstorm, we had some snow days. Snow days for teachers usually means that we spend time catching up! So I haven't been able to blog as often as I'd like. Here's our update:
We are looking forward to our student teacher, Brittney to making new and exciting lesson plans for us. We've been graphing using bar, pie, and line charts to find out our progress in the coffee shop. It's fun to see the DATA (our vocab word for the unit) about our favorite flavors of coffee, how much coffee is being sold, and our costs. It gives us a good picture on how we're doing, as well as helping us plan for next year. We've got several fun events coming up next week. We'll be visiting Dawn at Highmark Credit Union for a tour of their facility. We are going behind the scenes to investigate how a bank works! Fun! Next Friday we are taking everyone, including Mrs. Wire's class, on our field trip. We'll take lots of pictures, so make sure you've subscribed to our blog using the little orange button on the right hand side of this page! Here's some pics of our graphs: April means the weather is warming up and so are our job skills! It's amazing to see all the new skills my students have learned this year. Tyson and Haiden have come a LONG way since last semester, not to mention Sabrina and Trevor, they're amazing! They're making a good name for baristas everywhere.
Last week we had several students make the news again! The RC Journal came and did a story on the Cobbler Cafe. This is a program run by student to help OTHER students who are experiencing homelessness. My student volunteer with them in the afternoons. Here's the link to some pics: http://rapidcityjournal.com/photosweek-jpg/image_5c8720df-2d7b-5695-a5cc-ea44d2fd2f5e.html We've got some fun activities coming up on our calendar this month. We're taking a field trip to Highmark Credit Union. Dawn has planned a banking scavenger hunt for us and mention they have fun slueth mustaches to wear. Towards the end of the month is our annual field trip. Last year we went to the Air & Space Museum and the Outdoor Campus. This year we are going to the Dahl Fine Arts Center and the Elks Theatre. We haven't decided which movie to select, but I'm sure it'll be a good one! The students are already talking about their summer vacation, and I have a feeling it's going to come up VERY FAST!
