I'm wanting to send an update in regards to our field trip tomorrow, April 24th. Due to the chance of inclement weather, we are not going to be able to go to the Strider track. Instead of doing something outdoors, we will go to the Dahl Fine Arts Center at 10:00. After that, we will head over to The Elks Theater where we will have lunch and watch Big Hero 6! We will all be back before third block ends. We are looking forward to a fun day. :)

I'm writing to give you information about our annual transition program field trip! The students have done such a nice job this year, so they are being rewarded with a field trip to Strider Stadium and The Elks Theater. The field trip will take place on Friday, April 24th from 10:00 a.m-1:30 p.m. The field trip will span second and third block. For second block, we will visit the Strider Stadium and try out the course and Strider Bikes. For third block, we will be at The Elks watching a movie! The kids are very excited. I have given the students field trip permission slips for their guardians and teachers to sign. We are looking forward to a fun day! :) Forget March Madness, it is April Madness here at CHS. We have SO much going on this month between state alternate testing, prom, IEP meetings and field trips, all on top of our daily routine. As of today, we have 34 remaining school days, but we still have a lot to get done!
I will further update you in regards to the field trip we are taking, but I just wanted to give you a heads up on upcoming events. Also, I want to remind you that there will be no early release this Wednesday 04/08 because it is just a four day week. I hope you all had a great spring break! Greetings all,
I just wanted to share a quick post inviting you to come visit me tomorrow, Tuesday March 24th from 4:00-7:30 p.m. for Parent-Teacher conferences. I usually do not have too many parents and students show up, so come and see me! We are touring the Department of Labor this week in Employability and Affective Skills. And in Math class we are talking about the importance of being a wise shopper and how we can comparison shop to get the best value for our money. Well, that is all for now. Please come see me tomorrow, I will be bored and would love to brag about your child :P.
Greetings all,
I hope you are all staying warm and in good health. I know a lot of us around here are getting sick due to cold and flu season, it is that time of year. We have kept busy this week, let me fill you in on what we have been doing. In the Coffee Shop, we have been talking about customer service and the importance of ensuring that customers are satisfied. In Math class, we have been discussing paycheck deductions and taxes. The students were stunned to learn that money is taken out of our paycheck before we are even able to touch it! We are learning important life skills that we will need to know in our future! Attached is a picture showcasing one example of the talent and hard work our students display on a daily basis. Aseana is our chalkboard artist! Greetings all,
Does this title have you scratching your head? We all know that 1+1=2, but for the students and staff in our program, we recently found 1+1=$500! Let me explain... I will begin by telling you about the 1+1 program, 1+1 is a giveaway involving News Center 1 and First Interstate Bank. The two businesses have joined forces and are rewarding nominated teachers $500 for their classroom budget. Several weeks ago, my younger sister nominated me for this opportunity and last week on Friday the 13th, I was chosen for the drawing! This means that the news crew and my little sister (see picture in my bio) surprised our math class with a $500 reward. I was flabbergasted to say the least. As for how we are going to use the money, we will spend some on fun money for a field trip and we will spend the rest on needed classroom supplies, toiletries and other essential items. Below is a picture of me accepting the check for our program. I want to thank my sister Claire, News Center 1 & First Interstate Bank for making this all possible. Lastly I want to thank my students who inspire and energize me on a daily basis! Thanks to all :) Hello all,
We are busy bees here at the level 3 transition program at Central High School. We have established a routine for second semester and are in full swing! I want to fill you in on our recent happenings. Last week in Math, we made mini quiches for the teachers and sold them in the coffee shop on Friday. This presented a perfect opportunity for students to create a grocery list, estimate the cost of the list, actually go grocery shopping and finally practice measurement while cooking. The teachers loved the quiches and we will continue to make treats in math and then serve them to teachers in the coffee shop. We sure love our patrons at Wake Up Central :) That is all for now, I will update you with other happenings soon. |
